What's Unique at Vanderbilt University
An essential feature of Vanderbilt University is the Vanderbilt Medical Center (VUMC), the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the area. VUMC has a variety of units including Vanderbilt University Hospital, Monroe Carell, Jr., Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Vanderbilt Clinic, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.
VUMC employs more than 21,500 people and is the second largest employer in the state. Roughly 74% of the university's staff is employed by VUMC.
