Online college credit courses from University of California plan

Finding individual college credit courses online is like trying to buy one shoe… it’s technically possible, but you’re going to have to do a lot of searching.

Yes, there are college course providers with nationally recognized classes, but there are only a select few credible ones. And yes, there are certain universities and colleges offering online courses, but most of those classes are either non-credit or part of a degree program.

This might soon change.

The University of California is currently spreading the word about a plan to create and launch about 25 intro-level, college credit courses online, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education. Undergraduate students can enroll in these core classes and earn credit for them online.

Courses such as Calculus I, Freshman Composition 2, International Relations, Physics 3, and Cultural Anthropology would all be available to students in a virtual format. See the full list of proposed online college classes from The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Online courses from University of California would exponentially open up access to high-quality college credit courses online for all students, including you. What do you think about the school’s move? Is it about time or is it too much too soon?
